Sheri Dew wrote a great article about the influence of mothers last year.
I don’t usually use this space to reblog or redirect the reader, but this is something I care about very much and I really enjoyed this piece, which was sent to me by my wonderful mother-in-law.
The Influence of Mothers by Sheri Dew in the Deseret News, May 2011
Thank you to earnest mothers everywhere.
Thank you so much for linking to this article – it made my day and answered a number of questions for me! Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s day, Maren!
Glad you enjoyed it, Michelle. Happy Mother’s Day to you, too- the first of many! 🙂 BTW, when she writes, “Eve was called “the mother of all living” before she ever bore a child. Mother is the word that best describes the essence of who we are as women. It defines our identity, our divine nature and the gifts with which we have been endowed” I can’t help but think of how close these two words sound in Norwegian: jente (girl) and gjenta (repeat). They might or might not be related but that’s how I remember them anyway. It’s important to remember that we are creators.
